Have you ever wondered about why you are here?
Why were you born in Australia and not America? What is so special about our history that makes us such a unique people?
God said he chose Israel not because they were so special but because they were the least of peoples. We Australians did not get a great start either. All I knew about our history was that we were settled by a bunch of criminals. I knew nothing about the Aboriginals; I had never met one.
As I sat in a law class in America, I was embarrassed as I listened to the wonderful exploits of the Pilgrim Fathers. Who am I? I was not proud to be an Australian. What was the true story of my country? That was the beginning of my search.
After four years of research, my first book, Southland of the Holy Spirit: A Christian History of Australia, was born. Then Stories of Australia’s Christian Heritage followed.
Note that while I acknowledge the Aboriginal peoples as the original owners of our land, these books do not cover the many injustices against them. Nor do they mention the many immigrant nations that have contributed to make this nation great.
Even though I do not have all the answers, I know who I am, and I am proud to be an Australian.
Once we know who we are, we can move on to possess the real estate. The Creator gave Adam and Eve dominion over the earth and everything in it.
It is my passion to see the Australian school child recognize and acknowledge his Creator and become a friend of God. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me and don’t turn them away” and “except you become as little children you cannot enter the Kingdom of God.”
Children are close to God’s heart. An encounter with God will change a child’s life and he will change the world. Read more in my third book, Let the Children.
